Bring on the Inner Peace
Every year my husband Rob and I can't wait to start planning our vacation. For the past 14 years we have spent a week up on Great East Lake in Maine. We load up our kayaks, fishing gear, all the food we think we could possibly eat in one week and of course, my sewing machine and all the crazy quilting supplies I can squeeze into my sewing suitcase. We just got confirmation that the cabin we have been renting every year is ours the second week of August. Just the thought of being somewhere so beautiful and peaceful makes my heart fill with an inner peace. For those of you who have never kayaked, you have to find a way to experience it. It brings a feeling like no other... a calmness and a quietness away from the every day crazy world. We have been known to spend 8-10 hours kayaking from one end of the lake to the other, stopping for a quick bite to eat or swim and of course, plenty of fishing. When I found out today that our plans for this years trip was all set, I had to go check out some pictures that I took last year on the lake to remind myself what I have to look forward to in August. Not that I want to wish the summer away but just dreaming of being out on that water again will certainly bring a smile to my face for the next couple of months.

That looks beautiful and the whole concept made ME feel more relaxed!
ReplyDeleteThat looks like the place to be. I have always wanted to go up north. I think it has some of the most incredible scenic views(from what I've seen on the web). I really wanted to go up for the COF, but Cliff couldn't be gone that long from dialysis. I can't bring myself to leave him for that long. I have seriously considered just flying up to spend 1 or 2 days hoping to meet some board members and roam that part of the country.
ReplyDeleteWe come to our cottage in Maine for June/July, and today is the first day of sunshine (yay!) in 2 weeks! The loons send their regards and look forward to serenading you in August.
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous scene! Without your caption, I would have thought it was the Boundary Waters area of Minnesota. How wonderful to have this get-away to look forward to!
ReplyDeleteOh Nickilee, what beautiful photos where the water meets the sky! ;)
ReplyDeleteI've always wanted to kayak, but if you told my husband I said that he’d never believe you!! :c) as I won’t even think about doing it here where we live – there are too many alligators here! And I AINT gettin’ in any waters where there is a chance I might see one so I won’t let him buy anything boat related. :P
So glad that you now have a date to count down to! It will be here before you know it! Love from Texas! ~bonnie
PS – I got a VERY SPECIAL GIFTY in the mail today! I blogged about it ;)
Beautiful! Looks so relaxing and peaceful.
