Catching up on CQJP 2012

Yea!  I'm almost caught up!  While sitting around babying my shoulder I decided to try and get caught up on my CQJP - I am determined to get 12 blocks done by the end of the year so I can start fresh next year with a new idea for my blocks.

July's CQJP was done using some vintage laces and sepia tones.  A departure from my normal bright colors but I do like it - so much so I've already started using the same colors for September's block.

OK - I slipped up - I just can't get enough of the pink/cream and green color combination.  I found this cute little silky which reminded me of sisters... you know the saying "Sister Forever"   I absolutely love framing out a picture as there are so many ways to embellish them.

I want to take the time to say thank you to all my friends who sent me cards and little "cheer up" goodies - they are so appreciated and really brightened my days.  Seriously, I thought once I had the shoulder surgery the pain would ease up and go away. NOT!  I am beginning to think PT is going to kill me.  There have been days that I end up in bed once PT is over... I sure hope the saying "no pain, no gain" is true as this old gal is certainly getting tired of crying about it.  Even though I hate going to PT I really enjoy the therapist - they are young, full of energy and very knowledgeable - makes me feel like things will get better soon.

  1. Dear Nicki ~ Your blocks are very pretty.

PT is the pits, I know I've been there and I cried too.

May you feel less and less pain with each new day.

  2. Love those blocks, Nicki!! Hang in w/PT--it is very painful, I know...I used to end up crying, also...hopefully, yours will calm down. One of my therapists told me to
s-l-o-w down and try one day with fewer reps...that helped me a lot...good luck Julierose

  3. Very nice blocks, NickiLee. That lovely vine with the flowers below the lace border on the 'Sisters' block is gorgeous. Is it embellished lace, or is it all hand-stitched? (I tried to blow up the pic, but I couldn't.)I love it!
PT can be awful, but hang in there--it'll be worth all the pain in the end when you have better mobility and strength. I know you want to be able to paddle that canoe.

    1. Hi Suz, thank you! That is actually a piece of gorgeous trim I found at a bridal shop in RI - wish I had thought about it at the time and bought a few yards as it is one of my favorites.

    1. Hi Margaret, thank you for your compliment - as you can tell I am a lover of color so working with just whites/begige/ecru is a stretch for me - am starting to really like it though as I am currently working with the same colors for my September block.

  8. All your work is so beautiful and I hope your shoulder is healing well. I have been following you for awhile and really admire your work. I was hoping you could tell me what size your blocks are or what is a good size to create for the CQ 2013 as I would like to give it a try and can't seem to get anyone to give me an answer back. In hopes of hearing form you and wishing you well with prayers of healing:) Hugs Marilou

    1. Hi Marilou, Thank you for stopping by and your sweet comments..... prayers have been working as today was a great day - pain is starting to subside and my range of motion is getting better each day.

I think the size of the blocks or whatever shape you decide to work on is up to you. Some of my blocks are 12x12, some 10x10 and a couple 8x8. I have seen some of the ladies making different shapes to. It is your project so it'll be your choice. I'm looking forward to signing up for 2013 too and look forward to seeing your creations.

    2. Thanks NickiLee, I don't want to go so big as it takes too long to finish ( though a month seems like enough) lol but I do wanted to have enough room for a design, I guess the 10 x 10 or 12 x 12, I sure appreciate your quick response. So glad you are starting to feel better, that range of motion thing is important, keep up the good work, I'll keep up the prayers:) Hugs Marilou
